Organzing your Projects in the Office or at Home

“I start projects, but then I get overwhelmed.” – have you ever heard that.  Being a professional organizer I have heard that many times.  Here are some keys ideas:  Slow down.  People want to be organized in 30 minutes or less.  It takes longer, remember how long it took to get it in the shape that it is now.  Steve Webber (The Experts) gives good advice, “Don’t work for more than an hour continuously.  If you think the task is going to take two days, it will probably take four days” – and that is fine – remember it is the results that is important.  Second – Avoid distractions – stay on track.  Third – take shortcuts – sort your items quickly and go on to the next area.  Do small areas at a time.

    Hey Judy!

Great points – so many people try to do too many things themselves, and nothing gets done. We see it all the time with Real Estate clients – too much clutter builds up and it distracts potential buyers. Anyone selling their home should at least call you out for a day, to help them organize from a professional’s perspective.

Thanks Judy. Great tips! I was just overwhelmed this weekend with my project I expected to take a day! I think you really do need to stop after an hour. I never do. Its so easy to regain clarity that way. It’s a must!

I was organizing my photos recently to swap out all the outdated one around the house. I LOVE keeping photo collages everywhere in the house. I think it makes it a home.

What I slack on is putting the photos that I dont use in albums :( What tips can you give to people like me who have ALL these extra photos out of albums and WANT to get them in some?

My biggest issue is not remember which year they came from! Any tips on how to focus on organizing photos by date?

How about on which photos to choose? I often find that you want to share your albums with people in your home, but who wants to see ALL 2,549 photos of the new baby in just year one.

Finally, what do I do with all those extra photos?

I was inspired by your post Judy, so thanks. Any feedback would be appreciated!
